TRE® & Embodied Healing Workshop
With Suze Retera and Hannah Rojer
January 14, 2024
Even though we tend to feel stuck in our head when feeling stressed or overwhelmed, it is our body that is creating our experience of stress. Stress and trauma can be seen as a physical experience as it is the nervous system that interprets the situation we are in, which can be ‘normal daily life’ as dangerous. This triggers a cascade of uncomfortable sensations in the body.
Current day life offers us endless options to distract ourselves from these sensations like social media, Netflix, (over) working, and not in the least over-thinking! Unfortunately, none of these distractions offer an actual solution. Instead, they disconnect us from our body and the solutions it holds. For the long-term solution, we need to revisit the body so we can listen to, and release what it is holding for us. That might sound easier said than done, but with the right tools, we can all (re)connect to our body and access the healing potential and resilience that is naturally part of us.
This workshop aims to facilitate this connection for you, give you practical tools, and help you remember how to create your health and healing through your body.
In this 4-hour workshop, Hannah and Suze will offer you a combination of theory and practices that will offer you a new understanding and practical tools that you can apply in your daily life.
To start the day Hannah will guide you through a grounding and embodying yoga practice (accessible for all levels of practitioners) that focuses on the breath and the felt sense of your body. Once we are fully settled in, Suze shares the theory behind stress and trauma and how it affects the nervous system and the body. She will also teach you the role the vagus nerve plays in these mechanisms and how you can apply this knowledge.
Then we will bring this into practice as Suze will guide you through a complete TRE® session (Tension/Trauma Release Exercises).
To close the day, Hannah will guide you through a practice to activate the vagus nerve. The day will leave you feeling grounded and safe in your own body and allow you to leave some old baggage behind!
What is TRE®?
TRE® is a body-oriented practice developed by Dr. David Bercelli. The body’s tremor mechanism, which we share with all mammals, is activated through a set series of exercises. Through these tremors, the body releases tension and tension patterns stored in the nervous system as a result of stressful or traumatizing experiences in the past.
