Every now and then there is a legendary teacher who not only inspires through his teachings but also through the live he is living. Sri Dharma Mittra is definitely one of those teachers! At the age of 81 he is still teaching, practicing yoga, laughing, and lighting up the room with his playful presence. Sri Dharma is based in New York where he teaches classes and teacher trainings at his studio the Dharma Yoga Center.

Sri Dharma will come to Europe in 2020  for one event only; this 3-day intensive in the center of Amsterdam! So make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to practice and learn with one of the most inspirational teachers of our time.

The Sessions:
Friday – 18:00 – 20:30 hrs | Session 1:Dharma Yoga Masterclass – Focus: Warm-Ups and Balancing Poses
Sri Dharma Mittra shares a lifetime of experience within his Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa Asana Series for all practitioners. He is a master at helping all levels of students make progress in their practice. These powerful, yet subtle practices help bring radiant health, fitness and Self Knowledge quickly to all students. The program will include a special focus on yoga poses ideal for warming up the physical container — the body, leading to an increased flow of energy within the subtle body, as well as some breathing exercises (Pranayama) that have a similar effect. The session will also include deep healing guided meditation in Shavasana to rejuvenate and enervate the entire body, mind and being.

Saturday – 10:00 – 13:00 hrs | Session 2: Maha Sadhana: The Great Practice of Dharma Yoga
Maha Sadhana is a chance to encounter the best of Sri Dharma Mittra’s half-century of teaching and dedicated yoga practice compressed into one three-hour intensive session. The core of the class is a unique, challenging and meditative sequence of yoga poses that will lead to complete movement of the spine, unleashing Prana throughout the body, restoring radiant health, bringing clarity to the mind and putting power behind your thoughts. One of the great joys of Maha Sadhana is exploring variations of Sri Dharma Mittra’s advanced postures you may not encounter anywhere else in the world today, as well as instruction in how to take the steps necessary to acquire these yoga poses. You will also be guided through a purifying Deep Healing Relaxation. The session will open with invaluable and profound sacred teachings on the Ethical Rules of Yoga (Yama) and the Laws of Karma, combined with ancient varied breathing practices. The entire session will conclude with a joyous Asana Satsang Jam where yoga poses are offered for the benefit of all. Sri Dharma helps guide each individual to quiet the turbulent mind so as to experience the peace, contentment, and realization of the Divinity already present within you. Caution: do not miss out!

Saturday – 15:00 – 17:00 hrs | Session 3: Dharma Yoga Masterclass – Focus:  Forward Bending and Back Bending Poses
This regenerative and invigorating yet graceful mainly Asana practice purifies the physical and causal bodies of toxic impurities, evoking Sattvic thoughts that will lead to higher states of health and overall well-being. The practice includes Pranayama techniques (“breath of life”) which activate the pituitary and pineal glands, restoring balance to the mind and improving concentration. The program will include a special focus on forwarding bending poses and their compliment: backward bending poses. Forward bending poses are soothing for the nerves and calm the entire system, while back-bending poses open the chest, heart, and shoulders and bring energy to all the nerves along the entire length of the spine. The session will also include deep healing guided meditation in Shavasana to rejuvenate and enervate the entire body, mind and being.

Saturday – 17:30 – 18:30 hrs | Session 4: Psychic Sleep
Dharma Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation practiced in Corpse Pose. Regular practice of Yoga Nidra provides instant, pure energy, and this energy is 100% natural. 30 minutes of Psychic Sleep is equivalent to a couple of hours of deep regenerative healing sleep. Soon, you will go beyond ordinary consciousness to where your thoughts become powerful and creative. Regular practice will allow you to tap into the boundless joy that is already within.

Sunday – 10:00 – 12:30 hrs | Session 5: Dharma Yoga Master Class – Focus: Inverted Poses and Spinal Twists
Sri Dharma Mittra’s Shiva Namsakara Vinyasa series involves complete movement of the spine, unleashing Prana throughout the corporeal body. We will practice the main and most efficient postures and variations as sequenced by Sri Dharma. Breathing, deep relaxation, and guided meditation bring this practice full circle, removing the body’s toxic impurities, leading to higher states of health and well-being. Sri Dharma Mittra infuses spirituality supported by love, kindness and good humor in his teachings, as he helps build confidence to surrender both on and off the mat. Session to include a special focus on inverted poses and spinal twists. Inversions help reverse the flow of liquid so the heart and veins of the legs can rest and, combined with inner concentration, can allow one to taste meditation right there in the posture practice. Spinal twists realign the spine after the various kinds of poses, putting everything back in place so we can stand supreme in the face of anything life may throw at us.

Sunday – 14:30 – 17:00 hrs | Session 6: Dharma Yoga Charging Practice & Satsang
Charging Practice represents the latest expression of an Asana-centric practicum born of Sri Dharma Mittra’s 50 years of intense, constant practice and study of yoga. Sri Dharma continues to refine and supercharge the traditional yoga he received to make it as relevant and as efficient as possible for the world of today. Session to include vigorous and longer held yoga postures and sequences, mantra, Pranayama and a rich experience of Yoga Nidra. When we truly relax as in Yoga Nidra, a great amount of healing can take place both on the physical and subtle levels. This class will serve as a chance to experience many elements of Dharma Yoga and will constitute a complete practice. The practice is followed by a half-hour Satsang.
