2-Day Black Lotus Yoga Immersion with Ty Landrum
With Ty Landrum
September 6, 2025
Black Lotus Yoga is the latest blossom of the modern vinyasa tradition. It arose unexpectedly, on a wave of breath, to inspire new explorations of the body and mind. Though rooted in old principles, the system gives tradition new life, by welcoming improvisation within an overarching structure. With six balanced and exhilarating sequences, Black Lotus Yoga reaches into the depths of the body, rousing creative energy and inviting the sap to flow.
PROGRAM
This workshop is an introduction to the Black Lotus Yoga system. We learn how the system works, how to use it, how to improvise with it, and how to advance through the sequences over time. Our mornings begin with a guided practice of Black Lotus Series One. Then we shift into workshop mode, and we explore the series form by form, learning the internal patterns of breath and movement that bring the postures alive.
Our focus will be on internal alignment, or the balance of prana and apana, which we discover as the opposing movements of inhaling and exhaling. We work with these energetic patterns in a direct and immediate way to bring new depth and vibrance to our practice. Through these explorations, we learn how to engage meaningfully with the Hatha techniques of bandha and mudra, and we renew our understanding of what Hatha Yoga is all about.
REQUISITES
This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn Black Lotus Yoga, as well as for people who are already practicing the Black Lotus Yoga system and want a more rounded understanding. Those who come from Ashtanga will find Black Lotus to be an enriching alternative. No previous experience with Black Lotus Yoga is necessary! The entire system is new, and you are invited to share the excitement.
The Black Lotus system is meant to be practiced in the Mysore style, but teachers who guide vinyasa classes will find an inspiring structure here with which to improvise. All who register for the workshop will be given online access to a video reference of the Black Lotus First Series, and also a set of practice sheets, 30 days before the course.
